T-Series has gone ahead and bagged the music rights of one of the most-anticipated films of the year: 3 Idiots. The film, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, stars heavyweights including Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani in main roles.

Music of 3 Idiots has been composed by Shantanu Moitra and lyrics have been penned by Swanand Kirkire.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, 3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Mona Singh. While it will be Hirani’s third film after the successful cult films Munnabhai M.B.B.S and Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots will also see the pairing of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor for the first time ever. The movie is slated to release on 25 December, 2009.

On Sunday evening, Deepika Padukone and dad Pakash Padukone played a doubles badminton match against Aamir Khan and Aparna Popat, at the annual tournament for the Padukone Academy run by the one-time badminton champion.

Even though the actress lost the match against Aamir, Deepika believes it’s the sportsmanship that won at the end of the day. In her words, “I  know that Aamir plays badminton at the Khar gym. He’s extremely fit and a great player. It was an incredible experience to play opposite him.”

Deepika who’s extremely passionate about badminton adds that she always enjoys pairing with dad on the court, “Even after so many years dad is such a driving force and an inspiration for badminton enthusiasts.

Playing a doubles match, Aamir along with his partner beat the champs at their own game.

Like any other normal guy, Aamir is a sports freak himself, be it chess, table tennis, tennis, cricket or badminton.

It is a new found interest that the ‘Ghajini’ hero has found in the sport.

So taken in by the game, the actor influenced the entire team of ‘3 Idiots’ to play badminton during the breaks. He compares the sport with the dance form ‘ballet’ as he beleives that it requires a lot of control, strength, mind play and mesaured movements.

There’s something about the alphabet ‘T’ which may be attracting R. Madhavan to sign films if their titles begin with a ‘T’.

After ‘13B’ (or Thirteen B), he has at least three more films, titles of which start with the letter ‘T’. He is acting in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Three Idiots’ and Leena Yadav’s ‘Teen Patti’. There’s also Anand Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

Madhavan is surely playing Manu while there was a tough hunt to rope in cute lass to play the lead opposite him.  Wanna know who is it? As per sources the search ends with Konkona Sen Sharma!

While “Three Idiots” and “Teen Patti” would release by the end of 2009, Madhavan has a yet-to-be-titled project being directed by Navdeep Singh of “Manorama Six Feet Under” fame apart from ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

Raj Kumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots has brought three good friends together once again after Rang De Basanti. Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi had a great time shooting for 3 Idiots. Madhavan, who is currently shooting in Delhi had very few scenes in RDB. But the length of his role in 3 Idiots is the last thing on his mind.

Completely impressed by director Rajkumar Hirani, Madhavan already has a feeling that 3 Idiots will be one of his remarkable films. When asked if he fears being outshined by Aamir he quickly replied, “Aamir is fantastic to work with. He is a talented actor. I don’t worry about those issues.” Madhavan informs that he has worked with Aamir earlier and loves his style of working. “He is my role model.” He signs off.

Is this the Bollywood break she’s been waiting for? “I’ve never really made a big effort to break into Bollywood. This project just fell into my lap,” says an exuberant Mona, recalling how she bagged the role in Three Idiots. “I was in New York shooting for an award show, where I met Rajkumar. He told me he was trying to sketch a role for Three Idiots keeping me in mind. He called me to tell me about the script and the role a year later. It sounded so exciting that I had to grab it with both hands,” she says.

Mona says she plays an interesting character. “I play Kareena’s younger sister and my role takes a very crucial turn in the climax,” she said.

Talking about his much-awaited flick, which is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘ Five Point Someone’, the actor says, “Success is not in my hands. I can only follow my heart and work with all the sincerity and hard work that I always do. I would be happy if my next film 3 Idiots breaks all Ghajini records.”

Latest Buzz about the movie 3 Idiots is that Kajol is doing a cameo in this film. She starred along with Aamir Khan last in ‘Fanaa’. And with this cameo, once again we can see them co-star. At present, she is shooting for Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Five Point Someone’ is a story of three students studying in IIT institute and the problems they face while studying there. It will have warm, highly emotional scenes with a dose of some message that is a hallmark of a Rajkumar Hirani film.

This is supposed to be a lucky omen for the movie because Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par and Ghajini were also released on December 25, 2007 and December 25, 2008, respectively.

The 20-day first schedule of 3 Idiots was completed in Ladakh and Shimla, and the second schedule has commenced in Bangalore, in the first week of January 2009. The last schedule of 3 Idiots will be shot in Mumbai.

The music of 3 Idiots has been composed by Shantanu Moitra, and the lyrics have been penned by Swanand Kirkire. The screenplay of 3 Idiots has been written by Abhijat Joshi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani.

The second shooting schedule of 3 Idiots is currently being held at IIM, Bangalore.

The film is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. At the end of the 33 day schedule, the film should be 80 per cent complete.

We’ll have to wait and watch whether director Rajkumar Hirani does justice to Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone. For starters, he has got himself a fabulous cast. The 3 Idiots, as the working title goes, will be played by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan. And Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani will be the other key players. The film will be produced by Munnabhai backer Vidhu Vinod Chopra with music by Shantanu Moitra.

The main shooting locations are Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Ladakh.
